Wow, am I important…..am I a star…the real deal, as they say, the “Big Kahuna”? These past 2 months, I received an e-mail from none other than our current President and his wife, to join them for an ice cream cone some place in Pennsylvania!

A day later, I received an e-mail from our Past President to join him at a dinner where he will take my picture with him. Before I could respond, our current Vice President wrote me to join her on her campaign trail to meet her and shake her hand.

E-mails have arrived from congressmen and women seeking my advice, an Attorney General who calls me by my first name, a Vice-presidential nominee who wrote he would love to talk with me about his campaign.

I’m stunned by this attention. For the past several years not one of these people ever called me to discuss issues, the economy, or anything else that seemed problematic. Have I become so smart that these people who never called or wrote before, are seeking my wise counsel to guide them in their political journey?

I know I am well connected, as I have received letters from Prime Ministers from all over the world telling me about the funds in their countries that have been discovered and are mine by simply giving them my financial information.

As if my head hasn’t swelled enough, this morning when our Vice President announced her running mate, minutes letter he wrote me asking for my help.

So here I am, at the same address and phone number for years waiting for a call, seeking my advice, inquiring whether I’m alright, whether their political policies helped, asking if my gas bill is OK, and is my grocery bill is satisfactory, As my mother would say on occasion, “you don’t write or call, remember I’m here”.

In a few short weeks, my new friends in high places won’t write, won’t call or seek my advice.

I’m putting together my several page list of questions to ask when they do write me again….alas, I think these questions will go unanswered, as my new friends will disappear once again until the next election cycle…….but this time I will place a block on their messages, until they realize that this “Big Kahuna” is tired of ice cream cones, sitting at a dinner to get a picture taken, or winning another lottery in a foreign country I can’t spell. As we say in the south,” Lord Have Mercy”.

Take it for what it is, it’s just as I see it.
